Dear Colleagues,

Please join the Modernism Seminar of the Mahindra Humanities Center at
Harvard on Tuesday, April 9, at 6:00 p.m. to hear Michelle Clayton (Brown
University) give a presentation titled:

*“Except, Perhaps, a Constellation”:*

*Placing Dance in Modernism*

The presentation will take place in the Mahindra Humanities Center, Barker
133.

*Michelle Clayton* is Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies and
Comparative Literature at Brown University. She is the author of *Poetry in
Pieces: César Vallejo and Lyric Modernity
<https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520262294/poetry-in-pieces>* (University
of California Press, 2011), and she is currently completing a second book
project, *Moving Bodies of the Avant-Garde*, which explores forms of
cultural circulation across Europe and the Americas in the early twentieth
century, with a particular focus on the role played by dance –as image and
practice—in the international avant-gardes.

There is free parking near the HHC at the Broadway Garage, on Felton
between Broadway and Cambridge Street. Just tell the attendant that you’re
participating in an event at the HHC. Normally the attendant is welcoming,
as long as it’s after 5:00 p.m., even if we are erroneously not on the good
list.

We hope you’ll be able to attend the session, which, as always, includes
discussion after the presentation.

Details about the Center, including a calendar of events, are available at:
