Dear Colleagues,

Please join the Modernism Seminar of the Mahindra Humanities Center at
Harvard on Tuesday, October 2, at 6:00 p.m. to hear Kelly Rich (Harvard
University) give a presentation titled:

*'Only Repair': *

* Postwar Modernism and the Reconstructive Imagination in Elizabeth Bowen*

The presentation will take place in the Mahindra Humanities
Center, Barker 133.

*Kelly Rich *is Assistant Professor of English at Harvard University. Her
research and teaching interests include the twentieth- and twenty-first
century novel, law and the humanities, wars and their afterlives, and
transnational kinship. She is currently working on her book manuscript, *States
of Repair: Institutions of Private Life in the Postwar Anglophone Novel*,
which studies Britain’s transition from warfare to welfare and its
influence on the literary imagination. Her work has appeared in journals
including *ELH*, *Modern Fiction Studies*, and *Law, Culture, and the

There is free parking near the HHC at the Broadway Garage, on Felton
between Broadway and Cambridge Street. Just tell the attendant that you're
participating in an event at the HHC. Normally the attendant is welcoming,
