*Call for Applications: Co-editor of Modernism/modernity*

*Due date: September 1, 2018*

This year, the Executive Committee of the MSA will appoint a new Co-editor
of the Association’s official journal, *Modernism/modernity*. The MSA
Editor will be appointed to a *four-year term* (*September 1,
2019-September 1, 2023*) and will serve as one of the journal’s two
editors, replacing Debra Rae Cohen in that position.

The incoming editor will serve two years as the junior editor to
Christopher Bush, and then two years as the senior editor to his successor.
Responsibilities and initiatives are coordinated between the two offices,
with each having responsibility for peer review, editing, and the
production of two print issues. The current practice is that the junior
office oversees the reviews section, and the senior office the Print Plus
platform. With full control of the journal now in the hands of MSA, editors
have exciting opportunities for innovation across both print and digital

Johns Hopkins University Press will provide $20,000 annually to support
each co-editor’s office; this will cover the employment of a graduate
student Managing Editor. Any other editorial office expenses must be
covered by the coeditor’s institution; we strongly advise that this
additional funding be sufficient to cover an additional graduate student at
full or half-time.

Please note: the Executive Committee will accept applications from
editorial teams as well as from individuals.

Applications should include:

   - a vision statement
   - a description of your qualifications
   - a C.V. (editorial teams should include one for each member)
   - a statement about the funding resources you would bring to the
   position (including course releases, etc.)

The Executive Committee will interview finalists for the position at the
19th annual MSA conference in Columbus, Ohio (November 8-11) or by Skype if
an in-person interview proves impossible.

*By no later than September 1, 2018* applicants should send their materials
as email attachments to Laura Winkiel, MSA President (
laura.winkiel at colorado.edu), and Debra Rae Cohen and Christopher Bush, *M/m*
Co-editors (drc at sc.edu, c-bush at northwestern.edu).

We encourage inquiries about the position—the current editors will be happy
to speak with those interested—and would appreciate hearing prior to the
deadline from those who are considering submitting an application. Please
contact the MSA President and *M/m *Co-editors at the email addresses above.
