Dear Colleagues,

Please join the Modernism Seminar of the Mahindra Humanities Center at
Harvard on Tuesday, September 15th, at 6:00 p.m. for our first session of
the fall term to hear Nancy Gish present:

*“A Modern Aeneid":*

*Eliot, Virgil, and Abandoned Women*

The presentation will take place in Room 133 of the Barker Center.

*Nancy Gish* is Professor Emerita of English at the University of Southern
Maine. She has published widely on literary modernism, including books on
T. S. Eliot and Hugh MacDiarmid brought out by Cambridge UP, U of Edinburgh
Press, and Macmillan. Her essays, reviews, introductions, and interviews
have appeared in such journals as *Contemporary Literature*, *The
Yeats-Eliot Review*, *Modernism/Modernity*, *Review of English Studies*,
and in numerous collections of essays and anthologies, including *The
Gender of Modernism*.

There is free parking near the HHC at the Broadway Garage, on Felton
between Broadway and Cambridge Street. Just tell the attendant that you're
participating in an event at the HHC. Normally the attendant is welcoming,
as long as it's after 5:00 p.m., even if we are erroneously not on the good

We hope you'll be able to attend the session, which, as always, includes
discussion after the presentation.

Details about the Center, including a calendar of events, are available at:
