Dear Colleagues,

Please join the Modernism Seminar of the Mahindra Humanities Center at
Harvard on Monday, 25 February, at 6:00 p.m. to hear Hilary Schor on

 *"Modernist Temporality / Contemporary Cinema: **Betrayal & the Filming of*
* Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy"*


The presentation will take place in Room 133 of the Barker Center.

*Hilary Schor*, currently a fellow at the Radcliffe Institute, is Professor
of English, Comparative Literature, and Gender Studies and Law at the
University of Southern California.  She is the author of *Curious Subjects:
Women and the Trials of Realism* (Oxford UP, 2011), *Dickens and the
Daughter of the House* (Cambridge UP, 1999), and *Scheherezade in the
Marketplace: Elizabeth Gaskell and the Victorian Novel *(Oxford UP, 1992),
as well as many articles related to her interests in gender studies, film
and popular culture, law and literature, and twentieth-century fiction.  A
recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and an NEH Fellowship, among other
honors, she is currently co-director of the Center for Law, History, and
Culture, a joint center sponsored by USC College and the Gould School of

There is free parking near the HHC at the Broadway Garage, on Felton
between Broadway and Cambridge Street. Just tell the attendant that you're
participating in an event at the HHC. Normally the attendant is welcoming,
as long as it's after 5:00 p.m., even if we are erroneously not on the good

discussion after the presentation.
