Dear Colleagues,

Those of you interested in modernist magazines, social network analysis and other kinds of quant/DH research, and/or Franco Moretti (or Hamlet!) should look at the Magazine Modernisms blog's recently concluded reading event. Three contributors to the blog (Lisa Rhody, J. Matthew Huculak, and me) posted responses to Franco Moretti's recent essay "Network Theory, Plot Analysis" <http://litlab.stanford.edu/?page_id=255>, and he generously wrote a reply, which provides real insights into his thinking about the distinction between close and distant reading, the value of social network analysis, and the difference between interpretation and explanation.

Plus find out who Moretti think the Greatest Critic of Our Age is at https://magmods.wordpress.com/

Best,
James
