Please join the Modernism Seminar of the Humanities Centerat Harvard on
Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 6 pm for a lecture offered byNicholas
Allen entitled: 
 
Modernism, Ireland and the Americas: 
The Strange Case of Ernie O'Malley
 
The talk will take place in Room 133 of the Barker Center.


Nicholas Allen isthe Burns Library Visiting Scholar in Irish Studies
Chair at Boston Collegeand Moore Institute Professor at National
University of Ireland, Galway.  He is writing a book called 1916 and
After for Cambridge UniversityPress and is co-editor with Cormac
O’Malley of Broken Landscapes: Selected Letters of Ernie O’Malley,
which willbe published later this year.  Allen’s other books include
Modernism,Ireland and Civil War (2009), GeorgeRussell (Æ) and the New
Ireland(2003), and the edited collections ThatOther Island (2009), The
Proper Word(2007), and The Cities of Belfast(2003).


There is free parking near the HHC at the Broadway Garage,on Felton
between Broadway and Cambridge  Street. Just tell the attendant that
you'reparticipating in an event at the HHC. Normally the attendant is
welcoming, aslong as it's after 5:00 p.m., even if we are erroneously
not on the good list.


We hope you'll be able to attend the session, which, asalways, includes
discussion after the presentation.
