For those in or near North Carolina who are wondering what to do over break,
the much heralded exhibition, "A Room of Their Own: The Bloomsbury Artists
in American Collections," is well worth a road trip. For many it will even
seem well worth the hassles of a flight. A collection of paintings,
drawings, pieces from the Omega Workshop, first editions from the Hogarth
Press, and other delights, the exhibition is the collaborative effort of
Cornell's Johnson Museum's curator Nancy Green and Bloomsbury art historian
and Penn State professor Christopher Reed. Those who can't make it to one
of the exhibit locations may want to get a copy of the catalog, which
contains full-color prints of the pieces, as well as essays by Christopher
Reed, Nancy Green, Mark Hussey, Gretchen Holbrook Gerzina, and Benjamin
Harvey. The catalog is available through Cornell UP:
http://www.cornellpress.cornell.edu/cup_detail.taf?ti_id=3D5399. This site
also contains a fuller description of the exhibition and the catalog.
